My painting is about ideas and expressing those ideas, not taking a photograph with paint. Capturing a philosophy or a mood or a moment of tension or emotion is always my goal. I also like telling stories, doing illustrations, and I also paint about issues. My most recent series of paintings explore environmental issues. I am also a photographer and digital artist, but mostly, I paint.
I started painting very young, doing realistic art and evolved to impressionism, contemporary realism, and even abstract expressionism, which is the most fun. Ideas have always come to me visually, and painting is how it feels most natural for me to communicate my ideas. Lucky then that visual art is something that chose me a long time ago. I love the process of creating, getting struck with ideas, working out the decision making in forming a painting, and most of all, I like creating another world on canvas or paper.
Background:
I completed one two-year art course in Minnesota on scholarship, and majored in art at the University of Minnesota, Moorhead for 3.5 years.
I've sold artwork all over the country and through several websites. I have done commissioned portraits and other subject matter. I'm a free-lance artist and designer, and this is my passion.
I am also the curator of antiwarartists.com, a website devoted to the expression of anti-war art and environmental art. I've been running the site for several years, and it has attracted a lot of national and international attention.
My main art website is Leitworks Studio (http://www.leitworks.com) and I also have an art blog linked through that site, and of course my website here at FineArtAmerica.
